It is not a very encouraging start to the first two weeks of access to OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA), which just came online on August 1st. OSHA has suspended user access to the ITA site after the Department of Homeland Security notified the Department of Labor of a possible compromise of user information. It is believed that the compromise was caught early and possibly only a few companies were effected. The ITA site displays an “Alert: Due to technical difficulties with the website, some pages are temporarily unavailable” warning. This security breach does not bode well for an already controversial public reporting requirement designed for the submission of Injury and Illness data for certain businesses under OSHA’s new Electronic Recordkeeping rule. The deadline has already been delayed until December 1, 2017 and it is not yet known if it will be delayed yet again.
Our development team is still hard at work testing OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application for both our automated CSV uploading as well as direct API access from our Protect It EHS Software. Delayed or not we will be ready for our customers to make a smooth and painless transition to an OSHA moving target.
